*NEW CLASSES FORMING THIS SUMMER: Pre-Ballet, (5-6 yrs. old), Beginners Ballet, (from 7 years old.)

* INTRODUCTION TO VARIATION: is designed for our Beginning Ballet students in Level 2.  Requirements; students must attend two technique classes per week in addition to the Variation class where they will learn choreography working towards a showing at the end of the summer session.  This will continue with a class next fall and the students will be part of a Nutcracker public presentation in November.

*JUNIOR VARIATION:  is designed for our pre-pointe students.  Requirements, a minimum of two technique classes per week, preferably 3, we will learn choreography from the Nutcracker with a showing of our work at the end of the 3 week summer session.  The class will continue into the fall schedule where students will continue to refine choreography taught in the summer.  They will participate in a public performance of pieces in November and December.

Tuitions: * Intermediate levels studying Technique-Pointe-Variation tuitions Paid in full by May 15 will receive a 5% discount.  Speak with Kathleen about this discount.  If not paying in full ½ of the tuition is due on May 15 with balances due on or before June 15.

 Pre-Ballet 3 weeks:  $30.00

Beginners Ballet 3 weeks:  $38.00

*Beginners Ballet Level 2 with Introduction to Variation 3 weeks:  $80.00 

Intermediate Technique-Pre Pointe-Jr. Variation 3 weeks:  $225.00

Intermediate Technique-Pointe-Variation 3 weeks:  $243.00

Intermediate Technique Class only 3 weeks:  $135.00

BALLET ARTS Newport to add two new classes to its SUMMER DANCE and regular school year curriculum.

BALLET ARTS  Newport to add two new classes to its SUMMER DANCE and regular school year curriculum.

-PRE-BALLET- (5-6)  This class of rhythms, patterns, and form for students ages 5-6 years of age covers basic movements to prepare students for classical ballet technique as well as other forms of dance. Correct posture, positioning, and use of energy is emphasized in this fun class for our youngest dancers.

 -BEGINNER BALLET-( 7 and up) The class focuses on the basics of ballet technique: positions, alignment, port de bras, correct usage of the muscles, rhythm and coordination; beginning with barre work and developing it into center work. WATCH FOR OUR REGISTRATION THIS MONTH!

BALLET ARTS will host an Open House of their school -

“Dancing Through the Levels”

Sunday, November 16, 2008, 1:00PM, 19 Pleasant Street, Newport, VT. 

Selected students will demonstrate the components which constitute a ballet class.  The Introductory and Beginning Ballet students will demonstrate the exercises at the ballet barre, and the Intermediate and Advanced dancers will demonstrate the center floor, pointe, and a variation from the ballet Coppelia. 

Kathleen McCloskey-Scott Ballet Arts Director, choreographed the 60 minute lecture demonstration and will conduct the commentary and discussion.  Terry DeFazio and Jacqui Klar from NEK Public Access Television, will be on hand to video the dancers to be presented as part of the Public Access TV’s Arts programming.  This is a public event and a wonderful way to learn and see how Classical Ballet is taught. 

Donations will be accepted at the door and go towards Ballet Arts scholarship fund.  For further information phone Ballet Arts, 802-326-4430.

Performance
Ballet Arts students perform in several venues throughout the year.  The youngest students participate in an annual “Open House Performance,” with the more advanced dancers from the school; these events are for family, friends and open to the public.  The more advanced students perform several times throughout the year in the studio, staged performances with costumes and lighting, and various community venues to include our lecture demonstration performance series for elementary and middle schools.
